Flight Master's Whistle: Every Upgrade and Where It Works

Blow the Flight Master's Whistle and a flight master's bird picks you up and drops you at the nearest flight point. It began as Legion's answer to the long wait for flying, and since patch 11.2.5 it's a toy for your whole Warband. Most of its upgrades are hidden in side items and short quest chains.

Added: patch 7.0.3 (Legion) · Toy since: 11.2.5 · Cooldown: 5 minutes · Works in: Legion and Battle for Azeroth zones

How to get it

  • Legion: reach Friendly with The Nightfallen, Court of Farondis, Highmountain Tribe, Dreamweavers and Valarjar, then turn in "Uniting the Isles" to Khadgar in Legion Dalaran.
  • Battle for Azeroth: "Uniting Kul Tiras" (Alliance) or "Uniting Zandalar" (Horde): unlock the three war campaign footholds and reach Friendly with the three home factions.

Either one adds the whistle to the toy box.

The upgrades

  • Argus: the Krokul Flute from Toraan the Revered (Revered with the Argussian Reach) lets the whistle use the Lightforged beacons on Argus.
  • Nazjatar: once Nazjatar world quests are open, do Kelya Moonfall's short chain (74.2, 24.9). She becomes a flight master too.
  • Island Expeditions: Lyrics: Song of the Sea (25 Seafarer's Dubloons) lets the whistle fly you back to your ship.
  • Warfronts: the quest chains in Arathi and Darkshore add those maps.

Where it doesn't work

The whistle does nothing in Shadowlands, Dragonflight, The War Within or Midnight zones. Gnomes have a heritage alternative, the G.E.A.R. Tracking Beacon.
