Slitherfang: The Secret Snake of Altar of Fangs

The first secret of patch 12.1 hides in the Mythic version of Altar of Fangs. Five small objects lie at the foot of two poison waterfalls, and a group that carries them to the Ascendant Serpent can reverse its ritual instead of breaking the totems. Every player then takes home Slitherfang, a little snake companion, and the Feat of Strength In Case Of Emergency.

How to free it

  1. Enter Altar of Fangs on Mythic with five players.
  2. Kill the first boss, Rav'i. In her arena, search the foot of the two green poison waterfalls. One player loots the Ritual Reagent, the other four each loot a Reversal Charm. The objects are small and sit inside the green liquid.
  3. Kill the second boss and clear up to the Ascendant Serpent, held by four poison totems. Don't click the totems.
  4. The reagent carrier stands at the serpent, each charm carrier at a totem.
  5. The reagent carrier targets the serpent and presses Applying Reagent first; then the four others press Ritual Reversal.
  6. The serpent turns into a large Slitherfang. Everyone clicks it for the pet.

Tips

Random groups want speed, so make your own "Slitherfang" group. Slitherfang wears the same colours as The Writhing Brood, the mount from Zul'jan's Strongbox at the end of the same dungeon.
