Phoenix Wishwing: the Tale of the Phoenix
Tarjin the Blind in the Waking Shores knows an old tale about a phoenix. To hear it, you have to bring him ash collected across three expansions: an ember from the Firelands, sacred ash from Draenor and feathers from the Dragon Isles.

Step 1: the Phoenix Ash Talisman
Gather three things and trade them to Zektar in the Spires of Arak (around 52.1, 50.5) for the talisman. If Zektar isn't there, finish the Spires of Arak story up to The High Ravenspeaker.
- 1 Glittering Phoenix Ember: from Alysrazor in the Firelands during Cataclysm Timewalking. Everyone in the raid gets one.
- 20 Inert Phoenix Ash: from Scorching Elementals and Living Blazes in Un'Goro Crater. The drop chance is low, so expect to farm for a while.
- 10 Sacred Phoenix Ash: from Small Piles of Ash in cooking pots around the Spires of Arak. They respawn roughly every 15 minutes.

Step 2: Smoldering Phoenix Ash
Phoenixes across the Dragon Isles drop Smoldering Phoenix Ash. The open-world drop chance is low; the phoenixes in the first rooms of the Neltharus dungeon, on the way to Chargath, are the usual farming spot. It can take many resets.

Step 3: Ash Feathers
Buy the Ash Feather Amulet from Griftah in the Waking Shores (around 25.6, 54.3) and use it. While its buff is up, feathers appear on the ground around you every 15 seconds. The platform above the Obsidian Throne is a good spot to collect 20.

Step 4: the tale
Bring the talisman, 15 Smoldering Phoenix Ash and 20 Ash Feathers to Tarjin the Blind in the Waking Shores (around 16.2, 62.6). He offers Tale of the Phoenix, which rewards the Phoenix Wishwing.
