Uuna: the Secret Storyline of a Lost Girl

Uuna is a little girl lost in a place where it is always dark. She starts as a scared, shadowy companion that doesn't even know you're there, and by the end of her story she is a cheerful friend with a doll, a wand that shoots stars and a crown of flowers. Her story is one of the warmest secrets Blizzard ever hid in the game, and finishing it is also the key to Baa'l.

Step 1: the Many-Faced Devourer

Uuna's Doll drops from The Many-Faced Devourer, a creature you summon in the Scavenger's Boneyard in the Antoran Wastes. You need four things:

  • Call of the Devourer, from mobs around the Scavenger's Boneyard.
  • Ur'zul Bone, near the altar (50.4, 56.1).
  • Imp Bone, inside the imp cave (65.9, 19.4; the cave entrance is at 65.6, 26.4).
  • Fiend Bone, next to the bone pile (52.4, 35.3).

Then click the Bone Effigy in the Boneyard (54.8, 39.2) to summon the Devourer.

Step 2: a new friend

Summon Uuna and wait until she says she's scared, cold or alone in the dark. Then talk to her with emotes:

  1. /whistle so she knows someone is there.
  2. /roar. She panics and runs away. Summon her again.
  3. /cry. She cries with you and realises you're lost together.

Step 3: light in the darkness

  1. Visit A'dal in Shattrath City. Uuna walks towards the naaru, then flees: the light is too bright.
  2. Take her to the moonlit grass at Lake Falathim in Ashenvale (18.9, 41.6). The soft light lets her see you at last, and she introduces herself.

Step 4: Nuu, a wand and a crown

  1. Nuu, her doll, lies in an abandoned house on a floating island in south-west Eredath (32.7, 75.5). Bring Goblin Glider Kits: jump from 24.3, 58.8 to the small island nearby, then glide from its highest point to the far island.
  2. At Blood Watch on Bloodmyst Isle (56.4, 56.6) she picks up a wand that shoots stars.
  3. In Shadowmoon Valley on Draenor (56.0, 41.1) she takes a crown of flowers from a chair.

Step 5: taken by the dark

Soon after she gets the crown, void tendrils drag Uuna away, and you can't summon her any more. Die, and ask any Spirit Healer about a little girl named Uuna. The healer marks you so you can enter the place between life and death where she is held.

Step 6: A Dark Place

Go to the Emerald Dragonshrine in Dragonblight (66.2, 74.5) and click the Shadow Tear in a skull's eye socket. Inside, /cheer at Uuna, then light a Cooking Fire next to her. Soul-eaters come for her for three minutes; run straight into them to scare them off. When Uuna wraps her arms around herself and starts to cry, /hug her. She finds her courage, the darkness breaks, and the Light lets her stay with you a little longer. If you fail, click the Shadow Tear again.

Step 7: the world tour

Now show her the world. Summon Uuna at each of these places and listen:

  • The Gate of the Setting Sun, in the old Vale of Eternal Blossoms (talk to Zidormi to go back in time).
  • The courtyard of the Nighthold in Suramar.
  • Krasus' Landing in Dalaran over the Broken Isles.
  • Wyrmrest Temple in Dragonblight.
  • Nordrassil on Mount Hyjal.
  • Neverest Pinnacle in Kun-Lai Summit.
  • The Molten Span in Blackrock Mountain.
  • The Temple of Karabor in Shadowmoon Valley on Draenor, where she is overjoyed to find that her people survived.

The reward is hugs: from now on Uuna hugs you back, and she is strong enough to face Baa'l with you.
