Baa'l: the Demonic Goat of Frostfire Ridge

Baa'l is a small red-eyed demon goat, and the first big secret of Battle for Azeroth. The trail starts with a note on a temple wall in Nazmir, runs through thirteen pebbles hidden across Kul Tiras, Zandalar and the open sea, and ends in a volcano on Draenor, where the goat waits for a pet battle you can't win alone.

Before you start

The final battle can only be won with Uuna at your side, and she has to be fully empowered: her secret storyline and her world tour must be finished. A friend whose Uuna is complete can stand in for yours. Everything else is done solo, and today you can fly to every step that once needed water walking, gliders or fatigue tricks.

Step 1: the Conspicuous Note

In Nazmir, the Conspicuous Note lies on a ledge on the side of the Heart of Darkness temple, around 51.8, 59.1. At launch you had to cross the Takulu Bridge on foot; now you can simply fly to it. Reading the note unlocks the pebbles.

Step 2: thirteen pebbles

Click the pebbles in this order. Each one only works once the previous one is done.

1. Broken Shore (37.5, 71.6): on the table next to Drak'thul. If you can't click it, wait for him to walk away, or change War Mode.
2. Boralus (cave entrance 49.4, 40.0): walk through the net into the cave; the pebble lies on the floor at 44.7, 38.5.
3. Zuldazar (cave 31.5, 36.0): at the foot of a tree inside the cave.
4. Drustvar (cave 35.0, 54.9): behind a waterfall, in the head of a wicker effigy.
5. Vol'dun (63.1, 21.6): at a cave entrance, right in front of an angry krolusk.
6. Stormsong Valley (cave 68.4, 10.9): on a wheelbarrow inside the cave.
7. The South Seas, north of Nazmir (54.5, 7.3 on the Zandalar map): on the skull window at the back of a sunken ship.
8. Boralus (basement 37.6, 80.3): behind a keg and crates in a cellar in the maze of the lower city.
9. Drustvar (17.2, 6.5): at the mouth of a cave on the side of a small island in the north-west.
10. Tiragarde Sound (cave 75.4, 70.6): next to a carcass, past clattercrabs that hit hard at low level.
11. Tiragarde Sound (cave 80.1, 19.1): behind a waterfall, under a scroll at the very back of the room. Tilt the camera to see it.
12. Boralus (underwater cave 10.0, 82.8): under the seaweed near some rock pillars.
13. North of Vol'dun, in the sea beyond the fatigue line: at the entrance of an underwater cave. The other pebbles inside the cave are decoys.

Step 3: the anagram

The last pebble carries a line of text: Heckler of the Murkiest Thugs, sheathe your Bat and remove the Keg Cork, Wot? Rearrange the capitalised words and "Heckler Murkiest Thugs" becomes Kurgthuk the Merciless, while "Bat Keg Cork Wot" becomes "Get Back to Work", the line Kurgthuk yells at his workers in Frostfire Ridge on Draenor. Next to him is a volcano, and Baa'l sits at its centre (around 62.2, 22.8).

Step 4: the battle

As he is, Baa'l kills any pet in one hit. Summon your fully empowered Uuna next to him: she shouts at him, weakens him, and tells you to start the pet battle. Weakened, he has about 9,000 health and uses Shadowflame, Curse of Doom and Nether Gate. Win, and you get Baa'l's Darksign, which teaches the pet. If Uuna doesn't react, change War Mode and try again.

Summon Baa'l afterwards and he whispers a line full of oddly capitalised letters. They spell SEEK KNOWLEDGE: the first clue of the Waist of Time.
