Time-Lost Proto-Drake: How to Camp It in 2026

The Time-Lost Proto-Drake is the most famous rare-spawn mount in World of Warcraft. It flies a loop over the Storm Peaks a few times a day, and roughly nine spawns out of ten go to the blue drake Vyragosa instead. Players have camped it since 2008, and it still drops its reins every time.

The four spawn points

• Frozen Lake (31, 69)
• Brunnhildar Village (51, 71)
• The waterfall (35, 76)
• The ravine near Ulduar (52, 35)

Each point has its own flight loop. With four or five friends, put one at each point. Alone, fly the lap in the second map below. Use /targetexact Time-Lost Proto-Drake and /targetexact Vyragosa.

Rules that cost people weeks

• Don't leave the zone. If nobody is in the Storm Peaks for 20 to 30 minutes, the zone unloads its NPCs and the timer starts again when they reload.
• Pick your phase. War Mode on and off and Chromie Time each have their own copy of the zone. A quiet role-play realm improves your odds against other campers.
• Vyragosa counts. When she spawns, the slot is used; kill or skin her so you can see the next spawn sooner.
• Share it right. Up to five players in a party can loot it, not a raid. Tag carefully, and be ready for the fall when it dies in the air.
• Class trial characters can't loot it.
