Otto: the Secret Otter Mount

Otto is a laid-back otter who only takes riders who are cool enough. Proving it takes a gold coin from the Great Swog, a pair of sunglasses, five minutes on a secret dance floor and a barrel full of fish.

Step 1: a Gold Coin of the Isles

Coins of the Isles come from fishing across the Dragon Isles. Gold coins are rare, but the Great Swog exchanges 15 copper for 1 silver and 5 silver for 1 gold. One of the quickest ways to get coins is to put an Elusive Croaking Crab in the crab traps on the Forbidden Reach to summon Sir Pinchalot (traps at 23.2, 66.8; 47.8, 90.9; 70.5, 41.5, respawning every 5 to 10 minutes). Perception gear and consumables help with fishing.

Step 2: the Aquatic Shades

Trade the gold coin to the Great Swog (Ohn'ahran Plains, 82.2, 73.2) for an Immaculate Sac of Swog Treasures. Inside is the Aquatic Shades toy.

Step 3: the Bubble Bath

North of the Obsidian Citadel in the Waking Shores is a hidden underwater dive bar, The Bubble Bath (19.6, 36.5). Put on the Aquatic Shades for the Cooler Than You buff, jump in, stand on the dance floor and wait five minutes. When the buff ends, you're moved to the Hissing Grotto, where you can pick up an Empty Fish Barrel.

Step 4: fill the barrel

• 100 Frigid Floe Fish, from open water around Iskaara.
• 25 Calamitous Carp, from the lava around the Obsidian Citadel.
• 1 Kingfin, the Wise Whiskerfish, from open water around Algeth'ar Academy. The dock below the academy, by the dracthyr, is a reliable spot.

Step 5: Otto

Take the Overflowing Fish Barrel back to the Hissing Grotto (20.3, 39.7). Otto appears and offers The Way to an Otto's Heart. Finish it and he's yours.

Common mistakes

• Leaving the dance floor. The five minutes only count while you stay in the Bubble Bath with the Cooler Than You buff from the Aquatic Shades.
• Fishing in the wrong place. Frigid Floe Fish come from open water around Iskaara, and Calamitous Carp are caught in the lava around the Obsidian Citadel, not in water.
• Skipping the barrel. The Empty Fish Barrel only appears in the Hissing Grotto after the dance floor, so do the Bubble Bath step before you start the big fishing session.

How long it takes

Most of the time goes into the hundred Frigid Floe Fish and into getting a gold coin. If you already have a stack of silver Coins of the Isles from Dragonflight fishing, the Great Swog trade is instant. Kingfin is the only rare catch, and the dock below Algeth'ar Academy is the place to look for it.
