Nazjatar Blood Serpent: a Secret Mount from the Abyss

The Nazjatar Blood Serpent is a blood-red flying serpent, a recolour of Legion's Riddler's Mind-Worm. To get it you gather the fragments that N'Zoth's followers carry, take them to a hidden altar behind a waterfall, and free something that is very glad to be free.

Type: flying mount · Added: patch 8.0.1 · Players: solo today, a small group at level · Where: Stormsong Valley

Step 1: twenty Abyssal Fragments

Collect 20 Abyssal Fragments. They drop from N'Zoth's servants in Kul Tiras and Zandalar. The fragments aren't soulbound, so you can also buy them on the Auction House.

Step 2: the Altar of the Abyss

In Stormsong Valley, a cave hides behind a waterfall (entrance around 73.6, 23.3). Follow it to the Altar of the Abyss at the end, in the Sepulcher of the Abyss, and combine your fragments into the Abhorrent Essence of the Abyss.

Step 3: the Adherent of the Abyss

Go to the Saltstone Mine near Warfang Hold (cave entrance around 46.6, 36.2) and use the essence in front of the Abyssal flame inside. The Adherent of the Abyss appears, thanks you for setting him free, and then attacks. He is easy for a modern character; at level in Battle for Azeroth he needed a friend or two. If he despawns, you can summon him again at the Abyssal Rift.

The mount drops for the summoner only. Everyone else in the group gets the Aether of the Abyss.

What he says

The Adherent speaks Shath'Yar, the language of the Old Gods. Players translated his lines with a Violet Truffle, and they are as friendly as you'd expect: "I am FREE! I thank you... and now your souls shall sate my fathomless hunger."
