Slime Serpent: the Plaguefall Secret
One of the easiest secrets in the game, as long as you know it exists. Clear Plaguefall on your own, then walk back and pet a very curious slime.

- ExpansionShadowlands
Getting there
Take the Shadowlands portal from Stormwind or Orgrimmar, fly from Oribos to Maldraxxus and head to the Plaguefall entrance (59.3, 64.8). Set the dungeon to Heroic or Mythic first. Normal doesn't count. Heroic is the sensible choice, since Mythic gives nothing extra here.
The run
Kill all four bosses alone and outside a group: Globgrog, Doctor Ickus, Domina Venomblade and Margrave Stradama. Most trash can be skipped at current levels.
After Margrave Stradama, don't leave. Go back out of her room through the tunnel, take the first right and ride the transporter pad back up to Domina Venomblade's area.
On the left side of the slime river is a friendly Curious Slime Serpent. Pet it and the mount is yours.
Before you go in
- Leave any group first. The unlock only works for a player who is not in a party, so decline invites until you have petted the serpent.
- Set the difficulty to Heroic or Mythic from your character portrait before you zone in. If you entered on Normal, leave, reset the instance from the portrait menu, change the difficulty and go back in.
- A max-level character in current gear can pull large packs and kill every boss without trouble. Any spec works.
If the serpent isn't there
The Curious Slime Serpent only appears when every condition was met on that run. Check these in order:
- Did you kill all four bosses, including Domina Venomblade? Skipping one is the most common mistake.
- Was the run on Heroic or Mythic, and were you alone the whole time?
- Are you looking on the left side of the slime river near Domina Venomblade, after riding the transporter back up?
If all three are true and it still doesn't show up, reset the instance and do a clean run. There is no lockout on attempts.
Quick checklist
- Solo, no party.
- Plaguefall on Heroic or Mythic.
- Globgrog, Doctor Ickus, Domina Venomblade, Margrave Stradama.
- Back through the tunnel, first right, transporter up, pet the serpent.
