Gara: Taming the Void Wolf of Shadowmoon Valley
A ghostly wolf lies on a grave in Shadowmoon Valley. Scratch her ears and she starts you on one of the best hunter secrets of Warlords of Draenor: six items gathered across Draenor, an effigy, a void god who takes her away, and a fight in a void realm to win her back. The community solved it in September 2014, during the beta.

Added: patch 6.0.2 (Warlords of Draenor) · Family: Spirit Beast ·
Spec: Beast Mastery · Start: Burial Fields, Shadowmoon Valley (45.1, 65.9)
How to tame her
- In Beast Mastery spec, talk to the ghost wolf at the grave in the Burial Fields (45.1, 65.9) and choose to scratch her ears.
- Kill Mother Om'ra (44.0, 57.4), loot the Shadowberries and show them to Gara.
- Loot six items from specific enemies: a Drywind Bonepicker in Gorgrond (45.1, 52.8), a Gorebound Legionnaire in Talador (34.3, 73.1), a Sethekk Prophet in Spires of Arak (69.3, 42.2), a Warsong Marauder in Nagrand (71.4, 35.1), a Necrophyte in Frostfire Ridge (25.4, 10.6) and a Thunderlord Giantslayer in Frostfire Ridge (65.0, 65.5).
- Combine them into the Spirit Effigy and place it on the Disturbed Grave. The void god Xan takes Gara.
- Farm Shadowmoon Voidtwisters (around 30, 57) for the Void Lantern, use it at the Great Tree Valuundira (60.1, 38.6) and click the Shadowmoon Voidblade to enter the void realm.
- Kill Elder Voidcallers and Elder Void Lords until Xan appears, defeat him and tame Gara before the void swallows her.

Good to know
- Some of the drop enemies have a level floor; around level 26 is the practical minimum.
- If you abandon Gara, you can tame a Lost Netherwolf with the same look inside the void realm, but only if you have tamed Gara before.
- Players confirmed the chain in The War Within; we found no 2026 report yet.
