Boss Tames: Thok, Fenryr and Lalathin

A few hunter pets are bosses, or used to belong to one. You can bring home Garrosh's chained devilsaur from Siege of Orgrimmar, the great wolf of the Halls of Valor, and Grand Magistrix Elisande's fel-green hippogryph. All three are easy at max level once you know the trick.

Thok the Bloodthirsty

The armoured, muzzled devilsaur of Siege of Orgrimmar is the only tameable creature with his look. He is the eleventh boss, in the Menagerie. Clear the raid on any difficulty up to him, walk up and cast Tame Beast. Taming him counts as a kill, so the rest of the raid stays open. Devilsaurs are exotic, so you need Beast Mastery.

Fenryr

The wolf from the Halls of Valor, with glowing runes along his flanks. Enter the dungeon alone on Mythic (not Mythic+), kill the first boss Hymdall, then Fenryr, who flees to his den at 60% health. Once he dies, a friendly Fenryr appears at the back of the den, ready to be tamed. You get one try per lockout. Any spec.

Lalathin

Elisande's pet, the only fel-green hippogryph, sits on a domed balcony halfway up the south-west side of the Nighthold tower in Suramar (62.5, 86.8). She used to appear only inside the raid; since patch 8.3 she waits outside and respawns in about five minutes. You need the Tome of the Hybrid Beast to tame feathermanes. If she isn't there, continue the Suramar campaign. Any spec.

Another raid creature, the pet-sized Iron Juggernaut, has its own section on the mechanical pets page.
