Memory of Scholomance: Reopening the Old School

When Mists of Pandaria rebuilt Scholomance, the original dungeon on Caer Darrow vanished. Patch 10.1.5 quietly brought it back as a memory you can enter, if you help the ghost of Eva Sarkhoff finish a ritual she never got to perform.

Step 1: Krastinov's Bag of Horrors

You need the toy Krastinov's Bag of Horrors. It drops from the rare Doctor Theolen Krastinov, who has a chance to appear in Heroic Scholomance after Rattlegore dies, yelling "The doctor is in!". A friend who already owns the toy can use it for you instead.

Step 2: Eva's ghost

Clear Heroic Scholomance, then go to the Hall of the Damned, the upper floor behind Darkmaster Gandling. Use the Bag of Horrors and walk towards the pile of bones with a bright femur at the end of the room. Eva Sarkhoff's ghost appears and takes you for the Butcher; cancel the Surgical Alterations buff so she will talk to you. She gives you an Inert Spectral Essence; then loot Eva's Femur from the bones.

Combine the Inert Spectral Essence with 5 Essence of Undeath and 3 Dark Rune to make the Spectral Essence trinket, which lets you see the ghosts of Caer Darrow. If you lose it, Eva outside the dungeon gives you a new one.

Step 3: Eva's Journal

Back in the Viewing Room (the room with Professor Slate and the bored students), loot Eva's Journal from behind a bookshelf.

Step 4: five candles of Caer Darrow

With the Spectral Essence equipped, the ghosts of Caer Darrow will trade you their candles for things they miss:

• Stinky Candle: Caer Darrow Fountain Water from the fountain, for Joseph Dirte.
• Tobacco-Filled Candle: the Undelivered Shipment of Smokes from a cart in Stratholme's King's Square, for Rory.
• Ghost-Warding Candle: the Trampled Doll near the Meat Wagon in the Eastern Plaguelands, for Sammy.
• Authentic Andorhal Candle: The Deed to Andorhal from a wall in Andorhal's town hall, for Magistrate Marduke.
• Imported Candle: The Road Ahead from a wall in the inn at Corin's Crossing, for Artist Renfray.

Step 5: the ritual

Enter the Scholomance building, turn right and continue to the small room full of bones. Use Eva's Journal to perform the ritual. This completes Memory of Scholomance, and from then on Eva's Enchanted Journal there takes you into the original dungeon.

Leaders of Scholomance

The old dungeon has its own achievement. Kill Rattlegore for the Viewing Room Key, clear all six rooms of the Headmaster's Study (three on each level, trash included) until Darkmaster Gandling appears with "School is in session!", and kill him. Doctor Theolen Krastinov in the Hall of the Damned drops the Blood of Innocents; place it on the Brazier of the Herald in the Chamber of Summoning to call Kirtonos the Herald. With both dead you earn Leaders of Scholomance, one of the secrets that count toward Mind-Seeker.
