Druid Serpent Form: the Secret of the Embrace of the Viper

Nothing in the tooltip says it, but in World of Warcraft: Forever the old Embrace of the Viper set from Wailing Caverns has a secret: a druid who wears all five pieces turns into a serpent instead of a cat. Players first spotted snake-shaped druids slithering through Stormwind and worked backwards from there.

The five pieces

Embrace of the Viper is a leather set of five pieces that drop from the Druids of the Fang and the bosses in Wailing Caverns:

  • Armor of the Fang
  • Leggings of the Fang
  • Gloves of the Fang
  • Belt of the Fang
  • Footpads of the Fang

The set bonuses

Forever reworked the set bonuses:

  • 2 pieces: +10 Intellect.
  • 3 pieces: +10 Attack Power.
  • 4 pieces: when you take damage at or below 25% health, you restore 100 health and mana over 5 seconds, once every 5 minutes.
  • 5 pieces: your melee attacks can inflict Dream Venom, stunning the target for 1 second.

The serpent

With all five pieces on, Cat Form takes the shape of a large serpent, like the vipers of Wailing Caverns. It is a visual change: abilities stay the same. In Prowl the serpent drops low and slithers along the ground instead of standing upright. Players report that the snake's colour depends on the druid's race and skin colour.

Forever also lets druids customise their forms at the barber shop, and players expect more form appearances to be hidden in other sets.

Tips

  • Wailing Caverns is a level 15 to 25 dungeon. The pieces drop at random, so plan for several runs.
  • The set is leather with agility and strength, so rogues and hunters may roll on it too. Agree on loot before the run.
