The Unsolved Mysteries of WoW Forever

World of Warcraft: Forever is still in beta, and players have found more questions than answers. This page collects every open mystery we know of, with an honest status for each: some are confirmed in the game data and simply unsolved, others have only been shown in videos so far. It is updated as the hunt goes on.

Confirmed, not solved

These exist in the game and in the data. Nobody has found the last step yet.

What the Stone Key opens

A burnt page, a book in the Undercity sewers and a satchel in Blackrock Mountain lead to a Stone Key with an unlabelled use. What it opens is the biggest open question of the beta. Every known step.

What the graves give

The Graverobber's Shovel digs up graves at Raven Hill and the Scarlet Monastery, but no reliable list of what comes out of them has been published. The shovel guide.

Where the Band of the Better Half drops

The level 60 half of the Partners in Crime ring set exists in the data, but nobody knows its source yet. The ring guide.

The cellar of the Drunken Dwarf

The secret tavern in Dun Algaz has a cellar door that can't be clicked. The tavern guide.

Three missing Rotmender's pieces

Two pieces of the Rotmender's Raiment healer set drop in the Ruins of Lordaeron. The robe, the sash and the gloves have no known source. The Ruins of Lordaeron guide.

The greenhouse nobody can build

Herbalism drops herb seeds you are told to plant in a greenhouse, and the greenhouse is a camp object made with Herbalism. But no player has reported finding the blueprint for it yet.

A legendary in the files

Dataminers have found a three-stage legendary chain: the Barrow Dens in Moonglade, a puzzle with the crystal pylons of Un'Goro, and a branch of Nordrassil charged by a boss of the Mount Hyjal raid, ending in a solo scenario called Archimonde's Fall. The content is encrypted, and Blizzard has announced a legendary for spring 2027.

Closed doors

Manor Mistmantle in Duskwood has been expanded, its doors are shut and an elite worgen guards it. In the new Riverglades zone there is a closed instance door. Both look like dungeons that are not open yet.

Only seen in videos so far

These come from explorers' videos. We have not found a written source that confirms them, so treat them as leads, not facts.

The island south of Land's End

South of Land's End in Tanaris, deep-water fatigue now reaches right up to an island with a lighthouse, a gun and a pulled-up ladder. Swimming, ghost runs and Blink all failed for the explorer who filmed it. A druid friend reportedly got there and described pirates, hyenas and a generator with a titan orb next to levers.

Southern Silithus

Past the gates of Ahn'Qiraj, southern Silithus is much larger than in Classic, with silithid hives, sand waterfalls and invisible walls. Explorers reach it over the mountains from Tanaris. It may be unfinished terrain for later content.

The tauren incense

The tauren quest Traditions of the Bluff keeps giving you Prepared Incense after it is done, with no stated use. Some players link it to the original 2004 cinematic, in which a tauren scatters incense over Mulgore, but nothing has happened anywhere they tried.

Gilneas as a ghost

One explorer swam from the Silverpine coast, was killed by a shark and walked into the ruins of Gilneas as a ghost. A Gilneas map and a Battle for Gilneas battleground are in the files, but nothing confirms the zone will open.

The caretaker of Karazhan

An NPC outside Karazhan says his master does not welcome uninvited guests, unless they come with a special delivery. Nobody has found what that delivery is.

Editor, Lost WOW

Mira Duskwood is the pen name of the Lost WOW editorial team. Mira writes the secret walkthroughs and the history of the lost areas, and keeps them up to date when a patch changes something.

  • How this guide was made. Every step was checked against at least two independent sources (Warcraft Wiki, Wowhead and Icy Veins), and against the patch notes for anything that changed over time.
  • Last updated . When a patch moves a step or breaks a puzzle, the page is corrected and the date changes.
  • Spotted a mistake? Tell us and it gets fixed. Read the editorial policy.
