Ice Guardian's Sleetblade: the Secret Sword in Val

Patch 12.0.7 brought back Val, one of the Legion invasion points, as a Showdown zone. Somewhere in its ice caves an Enchanted Hilt sticks out of a rock. Prove yourself and you can pull out a glowing blue sword that players quickly started calling the secret lightsaber.

Type: weapon appearance · Added: patch 12.0.7 · Players: solo · Needs: Heroic World Tier, Val active that week

Before you start

Val is a Showdown zone, and Showdown zones take turns: only one of them is open each week. Check that Val is the active zone before you travel. Set your World Tier to Heroic; on Normal the kills don't count.

The steps

  1. Find the Enchanted Hilt, stuck in a rock inside one of Val's ice caves.
  2. Interact with the hilt. You get the Testament buff for 30 minutes, which asks you to prove your strength.
  3. Kill two rare creatures in Val while the buff is active, on Heroic World Tier. Rares in Showdown zones respawn every 20 minutes and the zone announces them, so you rarely have to wait long.
  4. When the buff tells you to return, go back to the Enchanted Hilt and pull the sword from the stone.

The reward is an appearance, not a weapon you equip for its stats: the Sleetblade is added to your transmog collection.
